Challenge

The team onboarded business customers by email and spreadsheet. Identity checks were inconsistent, reviewers had no single view of an application and there was no audit trail.

Solution

A web application where applicants complete a guided flow and reviewers handle exceptions in one queue, with every action recorded.

Approach

1. Mapped the existing onboarding steps with the operations team and agreed which to automate first
2. Integrated a third-party identity-verification provider behind a thin internal interface
3. Built a reviewer queue with role-based access and a log of every decision
4. Added automated tests around status transitions and webhook retries
